Our Mission

Our mission is to actively engage with local and national government, business groups, authorities, media and the general public on behalf of our members.

We do this by engaging with :

  • senior Gardai on issues pertaining to licensing and public order
  • Government and Opposition on legislation governing our sector
  • the wider drinks, hospitality, and tourism industries on matters of mutual concern
  • the media and general public to articulate the important role nightclubs play in local economies and communities throughout Ireland
  • licensing bodies and authorities on behalf of our members

Our Contribution

Nightclubs are a key element of our night-time economy and tourist offering, as well as significant generators of local revenue and employment for communities throughout Ireland.

The industry comprises approximately 300 venues nationwide, employing some 2,400 full time equivalent jobs, and entertains some 500,000 people on average every week. However, in recent years 130 nightclubs - 1 in 4 of the overall total - have gone out of business.

We are bringing the messages about the contribution of the nightclub sector, the need for a viable and vibrant night-time economy as part of the wider tourist offering, and the need for reform of the legislation governing nightclubs, to the relevant bodies and interested groups.
